Eagle Extensions

Eagle Extensions is an enrichment program for all Big Walnut students currently in kindergarten through 6th grade. Clubs will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Clubs with fewer than 15 registered students will be canceled. Hometown ticketing will be used for all sign-ups, and payment will be taken at the time of sign-up.

Big Walnut Intermediate


BWI Pickleballers ($40)

Tuesdays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Teacher: Mrs. Grieger


Have you taken an interest in pickleball?
Come join the BWI pickleball club!
Practice your skills, learn the game, compete with peers, and stay out of the “kitchen.” We plan to go outside as much as possible, so please dress warmly as it gets colder. We will provide the equipment or bring your own if you have it. Also, bring a water bottle and wear athletic shoes.
Pickleball is the real dill!

Cursive Writing ($25)

Tuesdays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Join us for Cursive Writing Club! 

Learn the beautiful art of cursive writing by practicing letter formations in script form. Students will work on a variety of skills, such as writing their names (signature), tracing positive affirmations, and reading passages in cursive.  Cursive writing helps students to write more quickly and is proven to improve comprehension across academic environments. Come and immerse yourself in the lost art of cursive writing!

Teo Bo Kicks ($20)

Wednesdays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Let’s get ready to KICK!!!! Get ready to get your body in motion! In this Eagle Extension, you will KICK your way to a fit and healthy lifestyle! Being fit will help enhance your athletic abilities, dancing skills, and overall health and wellness!
So please join us for afternoons full of heart-pounding fun and exercise!


BWIS Flyers ($40)

Wednesdays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Teacher: Mr. Denton


Come be a part of one of the fastest-growing sports in the world! As members of the Flyers, participants will learn the basics of throwing discs, scoring, and the rules of Disc Golf as we play on the newly completed BWIS disc golf course. Participants will receive a good-quality disc and a baseball cap with the Flyers logo.


Run Club ($30)

Thursdays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Do you enjoy running? Join the BWI Run Club! 

Students will participate in dynamic stretching, distance running, and a cool-down activity. Students will set personal goals and log their distance and/or steps each week to track their progress. Each participant will receive a BWI Run Club T-shirt. Get outside, improve your running, and have fun!

BWI Chess Club ($20)

Fridays, 2:20 - 3:20

Grades: 5th & 6th

Do you have a passion for the game of chess?

Are you already skilled, or are you simply wanting to learn how to play the game?

No matter your background, you are welcome to join the BWI Chess Club. A typical session begins with helpful instructional strategies followed by time to play with other chess members.  It is a great opportunity to meet new people and possibly develop a lifelong passion.

If you love Legos, then this is the club for you! 

We will be creating with Legos and having competitions!

Get Out & Play ($20)

Mondays OR Thursdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 2nd - 4th

Teacher: Mr. Clewell

This club is simply about getting outside and playing.
Whether recreational sports activities or a less structured free play. Our club's focus is on being active & social development.

Coding ($43)

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: K - 4th

If you would like to learn the basics of coding, then this is the club for you! 

We will be using different robots to code, such as the Sphero Indi! Come join us for some coding fun! 

Music Makers ($34)

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 2nd - 4th

Teacher: Mrs. Byahatti

If you enjoy singing and playing instruments, then join the Music Makers Club. 

We will work on creating rhythms and melodies, learn new singing games, and use instruments like boomwhackers, xylophones, and ukuleles. 

Digital Explorers ($20)

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: K - 1st

After-School Digital Explorer Club!

Tailored for kindergarteners & 1st graders, our program offers an engaging environment where young learners delve into digital citizenship, computer science, & typing skills. Through interactive activities, students explore online safety, animation, & keyboard proficiency, fostering responsible digital behavior & empowering them to navigate the digital world confidently.  There will also be an emphasis on digital balance, which will lead to some outdoor play as well. 

Coding with Mr. C ($20)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 2nd - 4th

Teacher: Mr. Clewell

For anyone who has done Coding with Mr. C, this is just a continuation of coding focused on Code.org. 

During this session, we will mainly be reviewing and applying our coding skills while discussing real-world coding implications. 

Music Play ($34)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: K - 1st

If you enjoy making music, then you will love Music Play!

In each session, we will sing, play instruments, & move to music. We will use fun props like puppets and scarves & play percussion instruments like drums & xylophones. Come join the fun in Music Play! 

Makerspace ($32)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 2nd - 4th

If you are a maker & creator this session is for you!

We will be exploring different materials to make a pillow, change purses, cars, planes, or boats. All you need to do is come with a growth mindset & your creativity. The possibilities are limitless!

Teamwork Tubs ($36)

Joining this club will guarantee an hour of fun with friends!

Students will work in teams to complete challenges using different STEM materials. 

Makerspace ($46)

Mondays OR Thursdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: K - 4th

Teacher: Ms. Keller

If you love making and creating, this is the club for you!
Come and create your own sunglasses, birdhouse, squishy wooden paddle boat (once finished, we will test them out in the water), planter (we will plant live succulents in our planters), or use random materials to create whatever you like! 
Makerspace activities are the same on both Monday & Thursday. 

Fun Games in the Gym ($30)

Grades: 2nd - 4th

Joining this club will guarantee an hour of friendly competition while having fun!

Students will be participating in games such as Capture the Cone, Swamp Ball, Galaxy Ball & more.


Ceramics Club ($44)

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 4th

Teacher: Miss Carpenter

Love sculpting and getting messy?

Do you enjoy painting pottery?

Join Ceramics Club, and you’ll get to build and paint a variety of pottery objects, including ones you sculpt yourself. Students will finish this Extension with at least two hand-sculpted pieces and two pre-made bisque pieces painted to their heart’s content. 

Walk/Run Club ($30)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 3rd - 4th

Teachers: Mrs. Burke & Mrs. Giraud

Do you like taking long walks with your friends?
Do you enjoy going for long runs in the neighborhood?
Then come and join the walk/run club. We will set a goal for how many miles each kid would like to earn and fill in their accomplishment on the t-shirt that they will receive. Come and get your body moving with us! 

Spring Crafts ($37)

Join me in welcoming Spring & the warm weather by signing up for Spring Crafts!
We will be decorating a flower pot, creating a birdhouse, decorating a stepping stone, and more!

Hylen Souders Elementary

Chess Challengers ($20)

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 3rd - 4th

Whether you're a chess champ or a rookie with a rook, you will have fun playing “The Game of Kings.” 

Experienced players will find new opponents to keep them on their toes, and new players will quickly learn how to play the world’s oldest battle strategy game. Everyone will have a good time!

Games Galore ($30)

Wednesdays, 3:30-4:30

Grades: 2nd - 4th

Teacher: Mr. Van Arsdale

Join us for 5 days of fun and games galore in the Souders gym!

This session will include over 20 different individual and team games that are played with and without physical education equipment. All games will include elements of sports, teamwork, tag, and/or movement! Whether games that are fast or slow, brand new games or games you know, in this session you are sure to have a ball!

Board Game Fun ($20)

Who says Board Games are boring?!

Not when you can stay after school and play fun board games with friends!

Come hang out in Room 315 after school on Tuesdays and play games with your friends!
